7 Tips for Your Winter Wedding
When it comes to getting married, summer weddings are often a bit scary, especially for men; if the bride can easily vary with necklines and length of the dress, for the groom the shirt is a must and not everyone likes to wear it in the summer heat.
Surely weddings in the warm season are the most popular, but there are also those who prefer winter weddings! If you are thinking of organizing your wedding in a cold month you are reading the right article. Discover all our tips!
1. Warm and comfortable bridal accessories
When you imagine wedding dresses, you think of wide necklines and bare arms and backs; in this case, however, we do not recommend them if you plan to get married at 10°C or less! There are also winter wedding dresses, truly special and wonderful in the details!
Our advice on the dress focuses precisely on the details:
– First of all, it is better to choose a long-sleeved dress, which you can embellish as you like; embroidery, lace or even beads.
– If you are getting married in winter, you can also think about adding details such as a stole or a cape in tulle, satin or faux fur; you can also embellish it as you like.
– Shoes also offer different choices; you can opt for classic suede heels or choose something more original like ankle boots.
– Gloves are often used in summer too, a particularly chic detail that always remains a classic for the bride. In winter we can say that they fit like a glove!
2. An original means of transport
For the ceremony, first of all we recommend you avoid convertibles and carriages… it’s too cold for those! In addition to the simple car, if you are in the mountains an original solution could be the sled; even if only for a small stretch of road, it becomes an opportunity to have fun and take beautiful photos.
3. Flowers
Flowers… there is nothing more spring-like. But don’t worry, there are flowers that grow in winter too! Here too, the choice is varied:
– the snowdrop: did you know that it is a symbol of hope for the future and purity, but also of a strong love? In fact, snowdrops resist even the coldest of winters.
– the timeless Christmas rose, also known as Heleboro. Resistant to cold and shade, this flower is a symbol of change and rebirth; in short, a bit like what happens during a wedding, right? The passage from life alone to life together.
– branches with berries, or pine cones, are alternative decorations to give an extra touch, and combined with the previous flowers they are ideal for original compositions.
4. Lights
Winter is often associated with darkness. But with the right lights even the coldest winter day can be warmly illuminated. So, an element to pay particular attention to is the lights; they warm the atmosphere and give a touch of magic! Maybe you can also use candles or illuminate the room with original lanterns. Did you know that at Villa Castiglioni Fisogni we have a starry sky created with lights?
5. Colours
The advice is to think of everything in harmony with the season; choose warm, enveloping colors, such as red, dark green, gray or even brown, a symbol of warmth and comfort. Or, you can also opt for softer shades that recall cold colors; such as white, light blue, indigo or silver. It all depends on the type of atmosphere you want to create.
6. Food
The menu must also be appropriate for the temperatures; we are not saying to propose soups and broths at your wedding, but to think about hot dishes such as meat dishes or risottos, better if everything is accompanied by a good wine. Then during the Christmas holidays you can indulge in sweets! You can create areas full of chocolate and typical Christmas desserts.
7. The Location
Last but not least, the location is the heart of the reception. We do not recommend outdoor places, not only for the temperatures but also for the unpredictability of the weather. So, choose closed and warm places, but that do not create a sense of suffocation. A great idea could be the villa, an excellent location for weddings; very suggestive, it creates an elegant and welcoming atmosphere at the same time, without ever lacking space thanks to the large halls. Have you ever visited Villa Castiglioni Fisogni in Italy, near Milan? It has everything you need for your winter wedding.
